Visa is a global payments technology company that connects consumers, businesses, banks and governments in more than 200 countries and territories, enabling them to use digital currency instead of cash and checks.

Since 2001, Visa and FINCA have partnered to improve the efficiency, flexibility and security of financial transactions made by FINCA clients through the use of electronic payment technologies. To help these projects get started, Visa has provided significant philanthropic contributions as well as substantial in-kind technical assistance.

Most recently, Visa is helping FINCA introduce the power of digital currency to its more than 100,000 clients in Mexico. The prepaid cards that FINCA is issuing to clients allow them much less expensive, safer and more convenient access to their loan funds through local ATMs. Some clients save an entire day, which they can dedicate to their businesses and their children, and as much $10 on bus fare traveling to and from their banks to cash their loan disbursement checks. On a $100 loan, a $10 savings is incredibly valuable.

Visa also has sponsored numerous FINCA events, provided a $50,000 matching grant to help drive donations to FINCA's new website, and developed an effective, multi-layered employee giving campaign that has generated more than $150,000 for FINCA since 2006. Finally, Visa has helped underwrite FINCA's global public outreach efforts, supporting ad placements in dozens of major US and European publications.

The Visa–FINCA partnership, a full-featured strategic alliance that both develops new products for use by FINCA's clients and provides financial support to FINCA, is a model that FINCA seeks to build on with other companies around the world.
