FINCA Cited as One of the Nation's Top Charities FINCA has received the distinct honor of being selected from among more than 800,000 U.S. nonprofits for inclusion by Worth magazine in its list of the nation’s Top 100 Charities. Worth is published by a privately held partnership of executives from Goldman Sachs & Company. (In addition to publishing Worth, the partnership manages $3.3 billion in assets.) Worth reaches an elite financially-oriented audience seeking maximum return on their investments – philanthropic and otherwise. The cover story of Worth’s December issue, “A Gift for Giving,” provides readers with its recommendations of those charities distinguished by their mission impact, financial controls, and sound management. FINCA’s own donors nominated the organization for this prestigious honor. Once nominated, FINCA underwent six months of thorough review by the Worth staff of all aspects of the operation, providing substantial amounts of information on its finances, policies and procedures, and outreach results. FINCA is one of 21 nonprofits in Worth’s “Relief and Development” section. “FINCA would like to congratulate the staff of Worth for conducting such thorough and objective evaluations,” said FINCA executive director Rupert Scofield. “This honor is a recognition of the efforts of a great team, including FINCA’s staff, the members of our board and advisory board, and, of course, our more than 35,000 supporters. Scofield went on to note that the figures on programmatic vs. overhead spending cited in the Worth article do not reflect large restricted donations that must be temporarily held in reserve. “If you include those numbers, our ratios are actually 85% to the programs, 12% to management and administration, and 3% to fundraising. These are results any organization would be proud to show.” A donation to FINCA provides life-changing economic opportunity to those long excluded. Please support FINCA as generously as you are able.
