Update Haiti: Interview with FINCA Haiti COO
At the time of the earthquake, we had not started our loan operations in the capital. Our 12,000 clients lived outside Port-au-Prince, but half of them lived to the south in cities that suffered more damage, such as Jacmel, Léogâne, Petit-Goâve and Miragoâne. Léogâne was more than 90% destroyed, and Jacmel at least 50%. We are still gathering information about the total effect on our clients, but we know that they have suffered significant losses in those cities to the south. Close to 40% of our current clients are currently active, by which we mean that they are attending our Village Bank meetings or making deposits. Read the entire interview here...
